Abstract

Hole cleaning is one of the problems encountered in drilling operation. The challenge encountered in removing cuttings bed during drilling arises because of the interaction of the drilling fluid with cuttings in the cuttings bed to form a cuttings bed gel. When hydrocarbon is to be drilled, then bottom hole cleaning is taken into consideration as poor well hydraulics leads mostly to poor bottom hole cleaning. This paper intensely investigates the critical causes and effects of one of the most prevalent drilling issues caused by differences in pressure and eventually leads to pipe sticking in well drilling and hole cleaning. This study also presents a very simplified method to criticallyof reducinge the chances of pipe getting stuck in drilled holes by the introduction of Nano-particles that alters the mechanical properties of the mud. In addition to the simplified method, Artificial Intelligence and conventional techniques are also discussed which enhances well stability and borehole control.
